Learn More About the History of the Negative Ad at This Thought-Provoking Performance

Main Street Theater's mission is to create theater that challenges its audience to think and its artists to grow. We accomplish this by presenting an articulate and compelling product in an intimate setting, creating significant employment for Houston-based artists, and memorable theatrical experiences for audiences of all ages.

With that in mind, Main Street Theater presents the Daisy, a play based on the most infamous commercial ever conceived: the “Daisy” ad. It is the fall of 1964. With a presidential election looming, a group of advertisers working for Lyndon B. Johnson unleash the “Daisy” ad. This ad played only once, but it carved a scar deep into the American psyche.

Based on actual people and events, Daisy explores the power of manipulation and the moment in television history that launched the age of negative ad campaigns — and forever changed how we elect our leaders.

We invite you to join us for the outstanding performance, but please keep in mind that children under the age of five are not allowed in the theater.

Even though Oxford at Country Club Apartments in Baytown, Texas provides you with all of the comfort, convenience, and entertainment you could possibly desire, we encourage our residents to venture outside of our apartment community and explore all that the city has to offer!
