Reinvent Happy Hour with Some Assistance from These H-Town Bars, Restaurants, and Breweries

COVID-19 may have you feeling a little tense, and sometimes, the best way to deal with tensions is with an adult beverage. Face it— you haven’t been able to go out with friends and blow off steam for months now, and who knows when the next time will be able to?

Since you’re doing everything else at home these days, why not try to make your very own cocktails, enjoy local wine or beer, and take advantage of delicious food offerings in the space where you do everything now, as well? Or, at least get everything you want to go— and at a reasonable cost! Check out some of our favorite places in Houston, Texas to grab a cocktail kit, bottle of wine, or six-pack of beer to enjoy responsibly in your apartment home.

Rainbow Lodge, Located in The Heights

Rainbow Lodge defines itself as “sophisticated not stuffy” – it’s a down-to-earth place where you can typically find wild game and seafood served in a log cabin setting along the banks of White Oak Bayou. Right now, the Rainbow Lodge is offering an entire selection of menu items for contact-free curbside pickup, including to-go beverages. Whether you choose a cocktail kit or an individual cocktail, you’ll be able to enjoy some of the classic restaurant’s favorite drink concoctions, including their Hibiscus Margarita, Smoke Jumper, or Border Paloma. Most bottles of wine are also 15% off when purchased for curbside pickup – but must be accompanied by a food order.

Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Located in Downtown

Saint Arnold’s Brewing Company is a Houston institution and remains synonymous with the craft beer scene here. In fact, it claims the title as “Texas’ Oldest Craft Brewery,” shipping their first keg of beer in the Summer of 1994. While St. Arnold’s is currently open for dine-in service with very terse restrictions in place, it’s also continuing to offer online ordering, so you can safely pick up your six-pack of Lawnmower, Summer Pils, or Art Car curbside. Cider, bottled wine, and – get this – hand sanitizer is up for grabs, as well. If you’re looking for other ways to support the local brewery aside from takeout and pickup orders, consider buying a gift card for your bestie, roomie, or even your boss!

Sixty Vines, Located in Rice Village

Like Saint Arnold’s Sixty Vines is also offering its patrons the ability to order food online. Their dishes, like Orecchiette Primavera, Fig & Prosciutto Pizza, and C.A.B. Burger, can all be enjoyed from the comfort of your home. And, what better what to enjoy delicious food than with a bottle of wine? Yep, you can also take wine to-go and pick it up with your curbside order! Sixty Vines is also offering pick-up meal kits throughout the week. Each meal includes three courses and a bottle of wine! Host your own Happy Hour at home with your choice of pizza, salumi & cheese board, bacon-wrapped dates, and 16 ounces of Froze! Or, Weekend Brunch is also available with French toast, a frittata, and mimosas!
