Towering at the head of the Strand, the Galveston Railroad Museum boasts one of the largest restored railroad collections in the Southwest and one of the five largest in the country. All aboard the Harborside Express Train for the time of your life at the Galveston Railroad Museum this Saturday!
The Harborside Express is an authentic, open-air caboose that travels 1-mile up Harborside Drive, then returns to the Galveston Railroad Museum. Ride the Harborside Express before heading back to the museum to view the institution’s numerous railroad memorabilia and exhibits, including more than 40 pieces of locomotives and rolling stock.
The Galveston Railroad Museum is dedicated to the restoration, observation, and re-use of its historic facilities and equipment for the development of educational and interactive programs, which support railroading and transportation initiatives serving our regional community. There's always something happening at the Galveston Railroad Museum!
Train rides on the Harborside Express are approximately 15 minutes long. Boarding for the Harborside Express begins at 11:00 a.m., with the last train ride ticket sold at 1:30 p.m. The last train ride departs from the station at 1:45 p.m. sharp and returns to the museum at 2:00 p.m. The train is a standing ride without seats. Due to the caboose being open-air, the rides will sometimes be closed during inclement weather.
Admission to the Galveston Railroad Museum starts at $5. Tickets to ride the Harborside Express are $5 and are not included with regular museum admission. For more information regarding the train ride and museum, please call 409-765-5700 or visit www.galvestonrrmuseum.org.
