Help raise funds to support the therapeutic horsemanship programs at SIRE with the Saddle Up for SIRE Benefit Trail Ride! Here’s your opportunity to spend a morning horseback while learning about all the ways in which SIRE benefits those with special needs. Check it out this Saturday, October 19th beginning at 7:00 a.m.
The Saddle Up for SIRE Benefit Trail Ride event funds weekly interactive horsemanship programs for nearly 300 children and adults with special needs and underwrites health and nutritional support for SIRE’s more than 30 specially trained therapy horses.
Trail riders will meander over 7IL Ranch’s 40 miles of gently rolling, sandy trails – some leading through the woods and across shallow creek crossings – and compete for prizes in the “Most Outrageous Costume Contest.” Non-rider enthusiasts can also help SIRE by participating as a Virtual Rider and creating their own fundraising page or donating via a SIRE client rider’s page.
Everyone will enjoy a barbecue lunch catered by Rudy's Bar-B-Q, mingling with the horses, riders and their families; shopping at the silent auction; face painting; pumpkin painting; other games and learning more about how therapeutic riding benefits people with special needs.
The mission of SIRE is to improve the quality of life for people with special needs through therapeutic horsemanship activities and therapies, and educational outreach. The power of therapeutic horsemanship to change lives has been known for hundreds of years. Scientific studies and those who participate in note benefits including increased strength and balance, enriched social interactions, increased flexibility, improved coordination, and enhanced self-esteem.
Make plans now to support SIRE this Saturday morning at Saddle Up for SIRE! Registration fees vary. To register or make a donation, visit www.sire-htec.org.
